Weather
When you're planning an outdoor session, the weather is one thing we can't control, but thankfully, we don't always need perfect weather for beautiful photographs!
Cloudy skies, soft rain, golden light, and even a little wind can create some of the most beautiful and unexpected images. That said, your comfort and safety always come first.
If the Weather Looks Questionable
If the forecast is calling for severe weather, heavy rain, extreme temperatures, or anything else that could make your session unsafe or uncomfortable, you are always welcome to reach out to discuss our options.
Depending on the situation, we may:
Continue with the session if conditions are still comfortable
Adjust our location or timeline
Wait and see if the weather passes
Reschedule for another date
Please don't cancel or reschedule on your own based solely on the forecast. Weather can change quickly, and I'll keep an eye on things leading up to your session.
What If It Rains?
A little rain doesn't necessarily mean we're out of luck!
If conditions are safe, we may be able to work around a passing shower or even embrace it. Some of my favorite images have come from unexpected weather!
If the rain is persistent or becomes uncomfortable, we'll make a new plan. Your session should be enjoyable, not something you have to endure.
What to Bring
For outdoor sessions, it never hurts to be prepared:
Water
Comfortable shoes for walking
Layers or a jacket when appropriate
Bug spray
Sunscreen
An umbrella, if rain is possible
A towel or extra clothes for little ones
Trust the Process
You don't need a perfectly sunny day for beautiful photos. Some of the dreamiest light happens when the sky isn't perfectly blue.
I'll be watching the conditions and using my experience to make the best call for your session. If we need to make adjustments, we'll figure it out together.
And if Mother Nature decides to surprise us? We may just end up with something even more beautiful than we planned.
