Session Day
You’ve picked your outfits, gotten everyone ready, and now it’s time for the fun part! Here are a few things to keep in mind before heading out to meet me.
Before You Leave
A little preparation can make your session feel much more relaxed. I recommend giving yourself plenty of time so you're not rushing out the door.
Outfits and any backup options
Comfortable shoes for walking
Hairbrush or comb
Makeup for touch-ups
Water
Snacks for little ones
Quiet toys or a favorite comfort item
Bug spray and sunscreen, if appropriate for the location
Any meaningful items you'd like included in your photos
Extra clothes for little ones (just in case)
Bring the Essentials, Not the Kitchen Sink
You don't need to bring everything you own! Keep bags and personal belongings to a minimum when possible. Anything you do bring can usually stay safely in your vehicle or in a designated spot while we're shooting.
If there's something special you'd like photographed (a family heirloom, your child's favorite book, flowers, a blanket, or another meaningful item) please bring it! I love incorporating personal details that tell your story.
For Little Ones
If you're bringing children, a few small preparations can go a long way:
Feed them before you arrive. A hungry toddler is rarely interested in pictures.
Bring a favorite snack, water, or a quiet comfort item if they need it. Don't worry if they need a break during the session, we can pause, reset, and keep going.
And please don't feel like you need to apologize if your child isn't cooperating. It's my job to work with them, not yours to make them perform.
Give Yourself a Little Breathing Room
If possible, plan to arrive 5–10 minutes early. This gives everyone a chance to use the restroom, make final adjustments, get shoes on, and settle in before your session officially begins.
Most importantly, try not to arrive stressed or rushed. The energy you bring with you becomes part of the experience, so give yourself permission to slow down and enjoy the moment.
And Don't Forget...
Have fun!
You don't need to spend your session worrying about whether you're smiling correctly, whether the kids are behaving, or whether your hair is still perfect.
Laugh. Move. Snuggle. Play. Be silly.
I'll guide you through the rest.
